Alice E. Douglas, 74, formerly of 2652 Harvey St. Maple Heights, Charles City, died Friday morning, November 21, 2003, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be planned at a later date. Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the donor's choice.

Alice Elizabeth Douglas was born December 30, 1928, in Brecksville, Ohio, the daughter of Milton and Orpha (McCleery) Snow. Alice graduated from Brecksville High School, class of 1946. Alice furthered her education in Ohio, attending and graduating from the Hiram in 1950. Alice was a Spanish teacher for many years until her retirement.

On August 29, 1953, Alice was united in marriage to Paul Gordon Douglas in Ohio. Some of Alice's favorite interests and activities included the Colwell Culture Club, being an avid bird watcher, so much so that the family recalls being on a bird watching exhibit with Alice and her having more knowledge on the subject than the tour person and her passion as an all around naturalist. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Those grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in her life are her husband, Rev. Paul G. Douglas of Charles City; her daughter, Penelope 'Penny' Douglas of Huron, S.D. and her two sons, Kim and Don Douglas, both of Temple, Texas; her brother, Wallace Snow of Roanoke, Va., and three grandchildren.

Preceding Alice in death are her parents; one sister, Carol Klingman and one brother, Charles Snow.
