Robert North, 72, a resident of 105 Depot Street, Rudd, Iowa, died Thursday, June 05, 2003, at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs, Floyd county, Iowa.

Per Robert's request there will be no funeral service. The Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Wallace North was born February 14, 1931, at Bassett, the son of Glenn and Neta Marie (Sisson) North. He received his education from the school at Bassett. Robert served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict and received a Purple Heart for his service. In December 1953, he was married to Marlys Clapp and they later divorced. His working career took him to Florida where he worked in developmental construction until his retirement in 1995 at which time he moved to Rudd.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Robert enjoyed the outdoors as seen in his interest in hunting, fishing, and trapping. To his friends Robert was known as "Grizz."

Living family members include four children, Rick North of AR, Lisa (Ed) Powell of Spokane, Wash., Andrea (Dean) Moore of Nora Springs, and Robin (Steve) Fishcher of Rockford; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Clair (Noriene) North of Charles City; a sister, Neta Marie of California; a half sister, Glennis of Minnesota; two aunts, Hettie (George) Kukhan, and Mildred Boggess; and close friends Dana, Janell, and Denver Larson of Rudd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters.
