John L. Fitzpatrick, 94, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at the New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton, Iowa, following a lengthy illness. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 31, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sunnyside Chapel and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

John was born on August 2, 1908, the son of Lloyd J. and Hattie "Greentree" Fitzpatrick at Canton, Ohio. John and Helen "Rita" Timmons were united in marriage on Jan. 13, 1959 at Independence, Ky. She died on Feb. 9, 2001. He was a supervisor for the Oliver Corp. at Charles City and also a Purchasing Agent for Hydrotile of Nashua. John was a Mason and a member of the Elks Club and Lodge of Charles City, an avid horseman and a former President of the Nashua Saddle Club. For 19 years, he presented the flag on his beautiful Arabian Stallion "Flame" at the Chuckwagon Races in Nashua.

Survivors include four sons, Terry (Carol) Fitzpatrick of Cinncinati, Ohio, John and (Liza) Fitzpatrick of Denver, Colo., Bob Ingalls of Youngstown, Ohio, Don (Sharon) Ingalls of New Albin; three daughters, Rita (Rick) Bond of Nashua, Linda (Jim) Martindale of Newell, and Tammy (Maroun) Azzi of Lebanon; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Earl.

Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
