Mary Damjanovic, 83, formerly of rural Charles City, died Wednesday Feb. 12, 2003, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2003 at the Grace Episcopal Church, 902 5th Ave., Charles City. Officiating will be the Rev. Kathryn S. Campbell. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary was born May 27, 1919 in Poland. Her and her husband moved to the North Iowa area in 1950. The couple met while working in a labor camp during WW II.

Mary was united in marriage to Milan Damjanovic in Germany. When the couple moved to the Charles City area they began farming. Mary worked very hard along side her husband on the farm and still maintained the home life. Mary and Milan learned to speak English by listening to the radio. Mary was fluent in 5 languages and worldly educated. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising livestock, and taking a stroll down to the Cedar River to drop in a fishing line.

Mary was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Charles City.

Those thankful for having shared in Mary's life include her sons, Steve Damjanovic of Charles City, Dan Damjanovic and his partner Suzy Neessen of Cedar Falls, Mike Damjanovic of Charles City, and Alan Damjanovic and his wife Karen of Orchard, seven grandchildren, Bronson, Alisha, Ben, Mariah, Luke, Jerad, and Paul.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Milan in 1989.

Fullerton Hage Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
