Marie Ross, 86, a resident of 315 15th Avenue died Friday, Nov. 22, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Funeral services for Marie Ross will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Rev. Paul Wilcox, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Marie Eliza Uetz Ross was born May 25, 1916 in Floyd County the daughter of George and Minnie (Schmidt) Uetz. She attended rural Floyd County schools. On December 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lee Ross at Charles City. Lee died on March 13, 1969. From 1970 to 1996 Marie worked at the Salsbury Baptist Home. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Friendship Club, and had been a den mother for Pack 101 of the Cub Scouts. Marie's family was very important to her and she greatly enjoyed all the family get-togethers. In her neighborhood she was known as "everybody's mom".

Living family members include a daughter, Shirley Krull and husband, Arthur, of Dumont; three sons, James Ross and wife Jeanne of Longmont, Colo., Howard Ross and Darrell Ross and wife, Jennie, both of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Debra Lynn Krull, two brothers, Ernest and Elmer Uetz, and a twin sister, Martha Davis, preceded her in death.

Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
