Edward Curtis was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Lucas County, the son of L.F. and Mabel (Hubbard) Curtis. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1932. On April 2, 1939, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Peterson at Charles City. In 1940 he started working at Klemmish Battery and Electric and in 1961 purchased the business and changed the name to Ted's Auto and Electric. "Ted" sold the business and retired in 1999. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. While he enjoyed camping, collecting antiques, of which antique scales was his specialty, and going to flea markets, his major interest was anything that had to do with cars.

Living family members include his wife, Marguerite of Charles City; three daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Charles Greaser of Harleysville, Pa., Sheila and Lewis Wright of North Liberty, and Terri and Paul Kidd of LaJolla, Calif.; and a grandson, Robert Kidd.

His parents, three brothers, and a sister preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
