Jim Noss was born April 29, 1928, at Dougherty, the son of William and Matilda (Albrecht) Noss. Jim attended schools in Dougherty and Rockford area until moving to California at the age of 17 where he graduated high school. Through his younger years in California he owned many motorcycles and raced them frequently. While living in California for over 40 years, he and his brother Toby owned and operated Noss Trucking Company in Clarksburg, Calif. Jim decided to move back to the Rockford area around 1989 and then on to Charles City where he enjoyed his retirement. His retirement was not a slow one as he still was extremely active in volunteer work at Hospice of North Iowa with his wife Norma. Jim was known for his very hard work ethic that even showed in his appearance of his acreage that he kept mowed like a golf course. There were many prize possessions throughout his life but no two like his Triumph motorcycle and beloved dog Ben. Following a devastating stroke on Aug. 1, 2002, Jim is now at peace.

He is and will always be missed by those that loved him including his wife Norma Noss of Charles City; two sons, Gary Noss and wife Debbie of Sacramento, Calif., Larry Noss & wife Richel of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Shari Coomes and husband Kent of Sacramento, Calif., Marianne Grzelak and husband Dean of Clarksburg, Calif.; Jim's children's mother who resides in California; two step-sons, Marc Zorzi of Ionia, Zolton Zorzi of Sacramento, Calif.; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eight siblings; many nieces and Nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenny and sister Francis.

The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa Charles City site in his name.
