Mary, Mrs. Benjamin Davis, 46, a resident of 1717 Owen Street, Charles City, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital of cancer.

Memorial services for Mary Davis will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

The family will greet friends Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ann Groff Davis was born Jan. 5, 1956, at Charles City, the daughter of John and Gladys (Hedquist) Groff. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1975 and later received training as a Certified Nurses Aide. On July 25, 1993, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Davis at Charles City. Benjamin died on March 1, 2001. Mary worked for 13 years as a Certified Nurses Aide at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Among her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Mary was dedicated to her family, enjoying spending time with them.

Living family members include two sons, Sam Groff of Mason City, and Michael Groff of Charles City; a grandson, Alex Noble; two sisters, Linda Grose and husband Tom of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Rose Groff of Charles City; a brother, Wesley Groff and wife Rebecca of Des Moines; two nieces, Shawna Groff and Alaina Grose; and two nephews, Cole Groff and James Grose.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
