CHARLES CITY - Roy Majewski, 84, of 201 First Ave., died Tuesday (March 26, 2002) at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor Stanley Hayek, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with the St. Jude Circle reciting the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a vigil Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass at the church.

The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa Charles City site, the Immaculate Conception Vision for the Future School Fund.

Roy Majewski, 84, a resident of 201 1st Avenue, Charles City, died Tuesday, March 26, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. A funeral Mass for Roy Majewski will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor Stanley Hayek, Pastor, will celebrate the Mass.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2002, where the St. Jude Circle will recite the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Roy Edward Majewski was born January 3, 1918, in Floyd County, the son of Edward and Sadie (Meek) Majewski. Roy graduated in 1937 from the Sacred Heart Academy in Greene. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1943.

On July 3, 1943, he was united in marriage to Pauline Canoe at St. Marys Catholic Church in Greene. Roy worked as a finish carpenter for V.F. Moltz Construction for 35 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Legion. Roy enjoyed cooking, gardening, and nature, finding special satisfaction feeding the birds.

Living family members include a daughter, Alice Somodji and husband Frank of Palatine, Ill.; a son, Edward Majewski and wife, Beverly of Sacramento, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1994, and a brother, Dale Majewski.
