LINK, JORDAN, KOENEKE, ROWLEY, HILDEBRAND

IONIA, IOWA - Elihue Harold "Beek" Link, 74, of Ionia, passed away Friday morning, June 15, 2001, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City of natural causes.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at St. John Evangelical Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Charles City. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the charity of your choice.

He was born in Chickasaw County on January 29, 1927, the son of Elihu and Agnes (Jordan) Link. He attended Chickasaw country schools and graduated from Charles City High School in 1945. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Army of Occupation, Good Conduct and W.W. II Victory medals.

He was united in marriage to Leona Florence Koeneke on January 18, 1948, in Charles City. To this union five children were born. Leona passed away April 20, 1979. Beek was married to Leona Rowley on Sept. 18, 1982. She passed away in April 1990. Glenda Hildebrand and "Beek" were united in marriage on July 13, 1992, in Charles City.

"Beek" worked at the Charles City Livestock Exchange and was a self-employed cattle buyer and farmer. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and an associate member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

"Beek" is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons and their spouses, E. Michael and Dee Link of Ionia and Greg and Edie Link of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; three daughters and their spouses, Linda and Normand Klemesrud of Charles City, Debbie and Mike Hayman of Bettendorf and Cindy Maag of LeClaire; seven stepchildren, Gloria Palmer of Mason City, Joanne Boyd of Loveland, Terri Allen of Cedar Falls, Karen Hagarty of Waterloo, Richard Tibbits of Charles City, Joyce Boehmer of Charles City and David Tibbits of Nashua; one brother, Louis Link of Iona; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Klemesrud, Jason Klemesrud, Kari Prigge, Trevin Hayman, Alissa Maag, Courtney Maag and Ashley Maag; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madison; and 15 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Leona (Koeneke) Link and Leona (Rowley) Link; his parents, Elihu and Agnes (Jordan) Link; one sister, Nellie Crooks; and one great-grandson, Parker Prigge.
