Former Charles City councilman Henry Hinrichsen dies

Word has come that a former Charles City council member has passed away.

Henry Hinrichsen, age 76, died March 12, [2001] at his home in Lake Summerset, Illinois, following a battle with cancer. Funeral services were held March 15 in Durand, Illinois.

Hinrichsen, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, served on the Charles City City Council from 1964 until 1968.

He worked as a bacteriologist, and later as personnel director, at Salsbury Laboratories for 16 years. He was also president of the Charles City Kiwanis Club for a year, and served as lieutenant governor and distinguished member of the club in Iowa.

His wife, Marilyn, still resides in Lake Summerset.
