CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Nellie DeWald, 101, died Saturday (Jan. 17, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Troxel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12 to 9 p.m. Monday, and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Salsbury Baptist Home of Charles City.

Nellie Evelyn Allen DeWald was born October 17, 1896, in Chickasaw County, Iowa.

Survivors include a nephew, Vincent Hayden of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Mrs. L.E. DeWald of Bellaire, Texas; and a niece, Mrs. Bruce Vernor of Herndon, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister.
