CLEAR LAKE, IOWA - Irene E. Carrott, 95, of Clear Lake, died on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 15, at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, with the Rev. Thomas Healey, officiating.

Visitation will precede the graveside service, family from 9 until 10 a.m.; public from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake.

Irene was born on August 5, 1913, in Rockford, Iowa, the youngest child of Otto Henry and Clara Emma (Wallbaum) Kock. She was born and raised on a farm east of Rockford. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1931 with a normal training certificate and taught in the rural school.

On January 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Lyle L. Carrott at the Methodist parsonage in Mason City, by the Rev. William Spence. They farmed for 30 years before leaving the farm and going into business at Geneva Livestock Sales in Geneva, Minnesota for 27 years. They moved to Clear Lake in May of 1989.

Irene was a lifetime, faithful homemaker, farm wife and helper, enjoying gardening, flowers and yard work; enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They celebrated their 71st anniversary together with family and friends.
Irene enjoyed traveling, going to their place in Northern Lakes Minnesota where they loved to fish, and going to the southern states in the winter. She also enjoyed doing handwork. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Minn., Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors.

Irene is survived by her two sons, Larry Carrott, of Warsaw, Missouri, and Miora, of Peculiar, Missouri, Robert Carrott and his wife, Kay, of Clear Lake; six grandchildren, David Carrott and his wife, Vicky, of St. Regis, Montana, Julie Wolcott and her husband, Dana, of Lake Stevens, Washington, Eric Carrott and his wife, Natalie, Belton, Missouri, Rodney Carrott and his wife, Kimberly, of Ankeny, Iowa, Brenda Molencamp and her husband, Craig, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Brian Carrott and his wife, Susan, of Mason City; nine great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle on December 10, 2004; an infant son, Thomas; two sisters, Esther and Lillian; and a brother, George.
