Robert “Bob” Lueth, 71, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Cerro Godro county, Iowa.

Pastor Dennis Niezwaag and Pastor David Werges will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Robert Allen Lueth was born January 22, 1936, at Bensonville, Illinois, the son of Ernst and Florence (Wiese) Lueth. He graduated from the Leyden High School in River Grove, Illinois in 1953 and from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul in 1957.

On August 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Holt at the Central Lutheran Church in Winona, Minnesota. Robert was employed for 36 years by the USDA as a Soil Scientist in St. Peter, New Hope, Litchfield, and Winona, Minnesota.

He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, a volunteer gardener at the Art Center, member of the Praise Band in Litchfield, Minnesota, and served on many church councils. His interests included coaching baseball and hockey, playing guitar, music, reading, history, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Living family members include his wife, Dorothy Lueth of Charles City; four children, Bob (Angela) Lueth, Jr. of White Plains, New York, Bill (Wendy) Lueth of Danville, California, Jon Lueth and his fiancée, Tammy Jensen of Charles City, Carole (Tom) Reycraft of Maple Plain, Minn.; a son-in-law, Kelly Johnson of St. Michael, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Andy, Scott, and Matt Johnson, Mike and Steve Lueth, Joey and Cady Reycraft, Reiner and Rex Lueth, and Mia Lueth; two sisters, Dorothy (Bob) DuMerer of Addison, Illinois, and Marilyn (Dave) Sykora of St. Charles, Illinois; two brothers, Ray (Audrey) Lueth of Maineville, Ohio, and Roy (Carol) Lueth of Palatine, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ann Johnson; and a sister, Carol Freitag.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to North Iowa Area Hospice, YMCA, or to the family.
