Floyd R. Fiser, 68, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Floyd Raymond Fiser was born February 3, 1938, at St. Paul, Minn. the son of Ralph and Margaret (Wilcox) Fiser. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1957. In 1956, as a junior in high school Floyd joined the Iowa National Guard.

On January 23, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Olson at Lyle, Minnesota. Floyd retired as a Master Sargent from the Iowa National Guard in 1979 serving 23 years.

During his working career he was employed at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company as a tool and die maker for 26 years and at GMT in Waverly as a supervisor and then as an estimator for 18 years. Floyd enjoyed playing his guitar for his own enjoyment. Bowling was also very important to him and he attended the State Tournament on 15 different occasions.

He also spent lots of time with his dogs playing fetch and Frisbee. His biggest thrill was watching his grandchildren compete in their activities of, wrestling, football, soccer, softball, baseball, volleyball, basketball, dance, band, drama, track and swimming.

Living family members include his wife, Mary Jane Fiser of Charles City; five children, Steve (Jackie) Fiser of Louisville, Ky., Julie (Darien) Uetz of Charles City, William “Bill” (Larina) Fiser of Charles City, Kim (Todd) Poshusta of Shakopee, Minn., and Mark Fiser of Charles City; 16 grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Debban of Osage and Mary Paulus of Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, LeRoy, Lloyd “Stub”, Robert and Roger Fiser; one sister Alice Peterson; and two infant siblings Donald and Sherly.
