Hildamae Steward, 83, of Charles City, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Hildamae Mitchner Steward was born May 17, 1923, at Auburn, Ind., the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (Ferguson) Mitchner. She graduated in 1941 from the Auburn High School.

On November 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ray Steward at Auburn. They moved to Charles City in 1962. Hildamae worked as a salesperson, office clerk and teachers aide at various locations during her life. She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wildwood Ladies Golf, Judy Souer Sorority, Navy Mothers Club and Heritage Club.

Her favorite television shows were both on educational and informational networks. “The Victory Garden” on HGTV and the “British Comedy Hour” on ITBS were her favorites.

Living family members include her husband, Ray of Charles City; three children, Patrick Steward and Toni (Bob) Pieper both of Charles City, and Amy (Randy) Caster of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Joe (Stephanie) Acord, James Acord and Brent Steward; a great granddaughter, Courtney Acord; a sister, Ruth (Alva) Grogg of Auburn, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Salsbury Baptist Home, 807 5th Street, Charles City, Iowa, of Hospice of North Iowa, 1003 Gilbert Street, Charles City, Iowa.
