Mildred Hamm, 91, of Charles City, died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Mildred Emma Cerwinske Hamm was born June 13, 1915, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of Frank and Olga (Ferch) Cerwinske. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1934.

On August 10, 1935, she was united in marriage to Cleston Hamm. Mildred was a cook at Trobridges, Red Owl, Little Napoleons and Country Kitchen before retiring. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church. Mildred enjoyed gardening, quilting, fishing, crocheting, bingo and playing a rousing game of cards with her friends.

Living family members include a sister, Hazel Kapka of Apple Valley, MN; a sister-in-law, Vera Cerwinske; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on December 29, 1972; a son, Clyde Hamm; and two brothers, Albert and Franklin Cerwinske.
