Larry DeBower, 69, of Charles City, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at his home of natural causes.
Larry Dean DeBower was born March 2, 1936, at Allison, the son of Roy and Toni (Bauman) DeBower. He graduated from the Allison High School in 1954.

On January 8, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janice Borel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Larry worked for 38 years as a machinist at the Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and then for General Machine and Tool at Waverly for eight years. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church where he had served on the original building committee and on the church council.

Larry was an avid pilot and was a 40 year member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He regularly attended the EAA fly-in at Oshkosh, WI. Another one of his great interests was camping which would keep both Larry and Jan occupied all summer long. There was also a strong love for music and Larry had the ability to play the accordion and organ by ear which always brought special joy to both family and friends.

Larry’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He always looked forward to those times when the family could be together and share together.

Living family members include his wife of 50 years, Janice of Charles City; four sons, Kim (Laura) DeBower of Apopka, FL, Randy (Barbara) DeBower of Charles City, Tom (Kathy) DeBower of Carpenter and Dan (Christie) DeBower of Charles City; six grandchildren, James, Steven, Emily, Lindsey, Quinn and Cassie DeBower; a great granddaughter, Alexandra Smith; two brothers, Dallas (Janet) DeBower of Auburn, NY, and James (Dona) DeBower of Carrol; three sisters, Bernita (Kenneth) St. John of Allison, Bonnie (Frank) McKean of Cross Lake, MN, Delores (Ronald) Allan of Allison; a sister-in-law, Helen DeBower of Allison; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger DeBower.
