Dan Lee Lackore, 54, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 11, 2007, at his home in Charles City.

Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.

The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Dan was born June 19, 1953 at Charles City, the son of Donald and Margaret (Crook) Lackore. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1971.

In 1973 he was united in marriage to Kathie Van Kleeck. From this union his son Nathaniel Lee was born. They later divorced.

Dan spent the majority of his life on the west coast where his parents now reside. His interests included photography, walking the dogs, animated movies, watching his oldest grandson wrestle and spending time with Deena and his grandsons.

Dan will be remembered for being a tireless worker, gold miner, craftsman, movie critic, artist, connoisseur of all traits, romantic and always enjoying life.

Living family members included his son, Nathaniel (Susie) of Charles City; three grandsons, Kole, Koen and Gehrig; his soul mate, Deena Downs of Charles City, her children Parker (Halie), Danielle (Luke); her parents, Skip and Myrna Ward; and her brothers, Greg, Dave and their families; his parents, Donald and Margaret Lackore of San Luis Obispo, Calif; a brother, David Eugene Lackore of Seattle, Wash.; Aunt LaVonne Lackore Todd of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Aunt Lois Lackore (Dale) Anderson of Temple, Tex., Uncle Keith (Karen) Lackore of Oxford, Uncle Dale (Beth) Lackore of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; many first cousins who love him dearly; and many friends new and old.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Winnie Lackore and Clell and Hazel Crook; and an aunt, Veone Lackore Browning.
