Gertrude I. Flugge, 83, of Charles City, died Sunday, August 6, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Gertrude Irene Hull Flugge was born September 15, 1922, at Ackley, Iowa the daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Hull). She attended Charles City High School.

On September 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Flugge at Austin, Minn. Gertrude was a waitress all of her life working at many different restaurants in Charles City. She started working at the Point Café, the Highway Café, Ray’s Family Kitchen for 12 years, and Club manager of the V.F.W until retirement.

She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women’s Bowling Association. Her interest included Bowling, 600 Club, inducted in to the Bowling Hall of Fame, gardening and working outside, and listening to country music, especially her son’s band The Country Kings.

Living family members include her husband Lloyd Flugge of Charles City; three sons, Darrell (Joy) Adelmund of Waterloo, Danny (Sharron) Adelmund of Round Lake, Ill. and Daniel Flugge of Clear Lake; two sisters, Betty Chamberlin of Euless, Tex. and Donna Hulion of Charles City; one brother, Clayton (Linda) Hull of Charles City; nine grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Joe, Ronald, and Wyane Hull; one sister Dorothy Bishop; and two grandchildren, Troy and Scott Adelmund.
