Irene Baldwin, age 93, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday, July 25, 2008, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Irene Ruth Steele Baldwin was born on August 2, 1914, at Caledonia, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence and Iveeda (Twite) Steele. She graduated from Caledonia High School.

On August 5, 1940, she was united in marriage to Joseph Steele at Decorah. They resided in Charles City where Joseph died on October 24, 1977. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Her interests included gardening. Irene also volunteered for many years at the Treasure Chest.

Living family members include a brother, Francis Steele of LaCrosse, Wis.; two sisters, Marie Rose and Mavis Reinhardt both of Caledonia, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews including Barb (Larry) Gelner of Charles City; and two nephews, Bruce DeBower and Barry (Cheryl) DeBower both of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
