MARION, IOWA — Velma E. Sinnwell, age 86, of The Villages of Marion and formerly of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a long illness. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. today at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Velma was born on August 18, 1922, to Harold and Beulah (Trask) Rodamaker of rural Charles City. She married Frances (Frank) Green, July 1, 1943. They had one son, Richard. Frank was killed in 1945 during WWII. She later married Henry M. Sinnwell, May 24, 1947, and had one son, Robert. Henry died in January of 1994.

Survivors include both sons, Richard Green and Robert Sinnwell; five grandchildren: Cory (Sonya) Sinnwell, Diane Constantine, Robert Green, Angrebreea and Keira Sinnwell-Hodge; and one great granddaughter, Ava Sinnwell. Living family members also include a brother, Harold (Mae) Rodamaker of Charles City and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Rodamaker, both husbands and daughter in-law, Candy Sinnwell.

Velma worked for several businesses, including Penick & Ford and the Mercy Medical Center Gift Shop. Velma will always be remembered for the love she shared with her family and the friendship she felt towards all people.

A memorial has been established at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2310 1st Ave, NE. Cedar Rapids, Iowa and to Hospice of Mercy.

The family would like to acknowledge her special friend, Tina, who always put a smile on Velma’s face and a special thanks to Hospice of Mercy.
