**Nancy Squier is the mother of Charles Squier. Both settled in Floyd County, Iowa

West Arlington May 25th 1855

Dear Charles, I seat myself to let you know that my health is good and has been since you left except the heach ache to day some. Charly you do not know how bad I feel for you and Johnny to be away so far from home. I spend a great many lonesome hours I received your letter yesterday and was very thankfull to hear from you and to hear that you was well. But I do not want you to settle there if you do buy land. I want you to come home you must let me when you expect to come home be shure and write to me when you espect to come for you must come home and see us and be shure and write often for I cannot here to often from you and John. Almond is well and works hard every day teeming Tom Fleming has gone to Manchester to day after a load of hay. I mean time I hered Jane had a letter from you I was up to ?Claud’s a week ago sunday and Marthy Ann and Jane Ann and Kate was up their and had a good visit with them. Al carried me up there and stayed all day. Almond got a letter from Johnny the day Ann got your letter and she said that she had written to you and but a letter in the office week ago sunday. I went up to Mr. Cary’s to write ? and Mrs. Casy sends her love to you and says she misses you well she says tell you that they are going out their next spring you may look out. Bridget says she has not got along any farther than where Johny is yet you will see her one of these days in the spring. Mr. Cary says he cannot wait to go in the cars he wants to fly there if you look out you will see him flying down some day or other they day Harriet Stoddard wont live? they think it is a shure thing she had a doctore with her every day ? is not ? better than a dog ? them all Kesley Woodard ‘s wife was bussied yesterday in Sandgate she that was Ligelia? Woodcock give my love to Sheldon Youns and Family and ? and David Green also John Towe and his wife and Marshal and wife Tell Malinda Youngs ask her if she remembers Anne and be not going a berrying over the brush fence and finding them as thick as they could hang tell Millinda to take good care of Charley you must take good care of your self if you can be a good boy and come home and see your mother.
