Transcript from Floyd Co. Iowa

“The Will of Luther P. Fitch, physician, of Charles City, Floyd Co., Iowa.
Hereby revoking all former wills I give and devise all my property, real and personal, except as hereinafter specified, to my dear wife, Martha Baker Fitch.

I give my son Charles L. Fitch, Two Thousand Dollars, to be spent as much of it as may seen best to him and his guardian, in obtaining a liberal education.

I give to him also my army sword belt & Surgeon’s sash, also my set of British Enclycopedia, one copy of Gray’s Anatomy, Flint’s Physiology in 5 vols.- Bocks Anatomical Atlas, Richardson
on Preventive Diseases and any other twenty-five volumes of my medical books he may choose.
I also give to my son Charles L., my watch.

I give the like sum of Two Thousand Dollars to my daughter Lucy Fitch, to be used as much as
may by her & her guardian deeded necessary in gaining an education-liberal if her strength will
permit.

I also give to my daughter our Mason & Hamlin’s Piano.

When the piece of land in Martin County, Minnesota, shall have been sold, I direct that from the
proceeds of the sale of said land, a modest family stone (or monument) of Granite be erected on our lot in Charles City Cemetery.

I hereby appoint my wife sole executrix of this my last will and request that she be not required to give bonds. And that she be apointed sole guardian of our children.

In witness whereof, I , Luther P. Fitch, have to this will subscribed my name, this 19th day of February A.D., 1889. Luther P. Fitch.”

Acknowledged by the testator in our presence and declared by him to use to be his last will and
testament.
Wherefore at his request, we have signed our names as witness, this 19th day of Feb., A.D.
