Death of An Old Settler.
The death of Lorenzo Dutton occurred at West Union a week ago. He was 89 years of age and had lived in that county for over sixty six years. The farm which he obtained from the government in 1848 was still in his name. He was the discoverer of Dutton’s cave, one of Fayette county’s best known scenes of natural beauty. When he left his home in New York state the end of the railway this way was at Buffalo.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he died in 1918; however his gravestone is very hard to read. What I can read is he was born in Feb. 28, 1826 and died Dec. 20, 19{?} He is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in West Union. Since this was published in Jan. 1915, I assume the year of death was 1914.
