DEATH’S HARVEST LARGE.
FOUR OLD SETTLERS PASS TO THEIR LAST REST.
AN UNUSUAL WEEK’S RECORD
Mrs. Wm. Beard, Thos. M. Hoyt, Heber Robinson, Andrew Williams were Pioneers—Miss Inez Schanck Dies at West Union.INEZ SCHANCK
Friends in many parts of the county will grieve with Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Schanck in the death of their older daughter, which occurred Tuesday morning at West Union, after a brief illness from what must have been an acute attack of Bright’s disease. For some time past Miss Schanck was engaged as stenographer at West Superior but returned home several weeks ago. Although she had not felt well her condition did not become alarming until Saturday when she was taken suddenly worse and the end came quickly. Miss Schanck would have been twenty-five years of age on May 18th next. The larger part of her life was spent at Burr Oak, where the family resided for a number of years. She was a self reliant, capable young woman, and possessed a cheery disposition that gained the favor of acquaintances on all sides. Her funeral will be held this afternoon at West Union.Source: Decorah Republican April 23, 1908, P6 C5
P. S.—Tuesday. Our town was greatly shocked this morning when a message came from West Union telling us that Inez Schanck died this morning. The winsome ways of the dear girl caused her to have many friends in Burr Oak which had been her home for a number of years. Our sympathy goes out to the family in this, their greatest life sorrow.
Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in the West Union Cemetery. It shows she was born in 1884 which does not agree with the above.
