Irene B. Kittelson

Irene B. Kittelson, 84, of #98 North Cedar Terrace, Charles City, IA, died Friday evening (January 7, 2005) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Irene Bessie Kittelson was born March 10, 1920, in Clermont, IA to William Franklin and Bessie Anna (Udson) Sullivan. She was the only child born to her parents. Irene attended school in Clermont, IA. On August 19, 1937 Irene was united in marriage to Orlando Kenneth Kittelson in Clermont, IA. The couple had lived in Earlville, IA before making their home in Charles City in 1948. Irene was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Family was foremost important to her and time spent with family and friends were special moments for her. Irene had been a wonderful homemaker. Some of Irene's activities and interests included crocheting, traveling, playing cards and board games, especially the game of "Aggravation". Irene welcomed people into her life and was very accepting of all who knew her. She will be remembered as a good counselor, listening to people with a sincere and caring ear and most notably always being there for people. Irene's children recall that she was the "gypsy" in the family and was always on the go and never adhered to a set time frame or schedule. She enjoyed having and going to rummage sales. Irene attended the Faith Bible Chapel in Charles City. Irene will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in her life are her three children, Doris M. (Walter) Nurre of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mary Ann (Gary) Tolliver of Alta Vista, IA and William "Bill" O. (Jean Ann) Kittelson of Plaistow, N.H.; twenty grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando K. Kittelson on May 31, 1978; two sons, Larry L. Kittelson in 1977 and Robert O. Kittelson in 2000 and her parents.
