Joyce Ann McFarlane 64, of Randalia, IA, passed away on July 21, 2021 with her loving family at her side. Joyce was born in Dubuque, IA on October 6, 1956 to Earl Joseph Streif and Leona Catherine (Fah) Streif. Joyce graduated from West Union High School in 1975.
Joyce was united in marriage to Robert McFarlane on November 24, 1979; they were married 42 years. To this union brought four wonderful children, Melissa, Matthew, Monica, and Megan.
Joyce worked as a co-owner/founder of McFarlane Welding and Fabrication for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending as much time with her grandchildren as she possibly could. When her children were in school, she loved going to all their sporting events with her husband, Bob. She also enjoyed showing beef cattle with her children and husband. When her own children were done showing she and Bob helped countless other family members and friends show. She was also actively involved in the Fayette County Cattlemen’s Association and the Fayette County Fair. Joyce was a strong woman who did not let her sickness in her later years keep her from enjoying her favorite things in life. She loved her grandchildren with every ounce of her being and they loved her. During our FaceTime or phone calls she often said “I miss my grandkids, oh and you too!”. There never was a more loving, caring, hardworking, genuine, and selfless person. She would do anything for anyone and always put others first. She also was not a pushover, she would speak her peace when the occasion arose and when she did you listened.
Joyce is survived by her husband Robert of Randalia, IA, children Matthew (Shelly) McFarlane, Edwardsville, IL, Monica (Joel) Eakins of Cedar Rapids, IA and Megan Riniker of Oelwein, IA. Grandchildren Maeve and Ainsley McFarlane, Oliver Eakins, Alissa and Jameson Riniker. Siblings Mary Trewin, Kathy Beane, Duane Streif, Michael Streif, Paul Streif, Dale Streif, Gary Streif, several amazing nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
