A Brakeman Killed at Oelwein.
Oelwein, Nov. 25.—J. J. McNamara, a head brakeman on the C. G. W. fast freight train, was instantly killed in the yards at this place this morning about 7 o’clock. While waiting for some changes to be made in the make-up if the train, the engine was being put in the round house. McNamara attempted to ride down on the pilot to open the switches, and while doing so either fell off or stepped off so close to the engine that the pilot struck him and threw him directly under the engine, his head being almost severed from his body.
