OBITUARY: (Independence Conservative 15 Sept 1898)
M. Burco, whose sickness we announced last week, died at his home one mile east of town, last Saturday p.m. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Platts. He was born in Pennsylvania, and while young moved to Defiance county Ohio, where he married Miss Maria Clow, and in the spring of 1857 he moved with his family to Iowa and settled in Buchanan county, where he spent the remainder of his life. He leaves a wife and seven children, five girls and two boys. He was a soldier the 17th reg. Iowa inf. vol. for one yer. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this their sad bereavement.
