Blame Laid on the Conductor.
The coroner’s jury sitting over the body of Frank Humble, who was killed in the head-to-head collision at Donnan Junction, early in February, finally reported. The blame was wholly laid upon J. O. Sloan, the conductor of the freight run, who should have held his train at Hawkeye, instead of trying to make the Donnan sidetrack. The company has discharged Sloan, but if that is all that is done in punishing him there will be criminal indifference exhibited.
