—West Union lost two old citizens
last week. Geo. H. Thomas, a resident for nearly fifty years, a merchant who had secured a competence and retired from active business, in apparently ex¬ellent health lay down on his lounge, and in a few minutes life departed. He was a soldier in the war with Mexico, and came to Fayette county in 1855. The other was Samuel W. Holmes, a resident since 1869. He was aged 73 years, and Mr. Thomas 76.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows George Thomas is buried in the West Union Cemetery and was born in 1826.
