Death Claims Hon. L. L. Ainsworth.
After a long struggle death finally conquered as he must, and claimed the Hon. L. L. Ainsworth, of West Union, as his own. The event occurred on Saturday and the funeral took place Tuesday. This removes another of the pioneer lawyers of N. E. Iowa. He came to Iowa from central Iowa in the fifties, and quickly earned a fine reputation as an attorney. Of all his surviving associates in this district we can recall only T O. Crosby of Clayton, Levi Bullis, of this county, and J. H. Powers of Chickasaw. To unquestioned legal ability Mr. A added great geniality that won him numerous and lasting friendships. All his life he was a strong believer in and advocate of democratic principles, and as such served this district for one term as Member of Congress. For over thirty-five years, despite all political differences, the senior of this paper has had a warm personal regard for Mr. A. Several children survive him. He was upwards of seventy years old.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the West Union Cemetery and that he was born June 21, 1831 and died April 19, 1902.
