Suicide in Scott Township.
Fayette Postal Card:--Hugh McMillan, of Scott township, Fayette county, committeed{sic} suicide Tuesday by blowing the top of his head off with a shot gun. He had been in the asylum but since his return home had latterly appeared rather queerly. Fearing he might be returned to the asylum he had said that rather than go there he would kill himself. The doctor advised that he be not returned. Fearing he might execute his threat, his wife hid the gun, and for several days he appeared to be much better even going to town. On Tuesday he said he wanted to shoot one of the Belgian hares belonging to his children, and the gun was given to hm. He went outside but instead of shooting the hare he killed himself. As told to us he was about thirty-five years old.
Transcriber’s Note: Find-a-Grave shows he is buried in Union Cemetery and that he was born November 28, 1864 and died April 18, 1905.
