Mrs. Polly S. Lang died on New Year's day, Monday, at her home in the southwest part of West Union, after an illness of seven weeks, from heart trouble and old age. The funeral is held this afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H.C. Culver. Mrs. Lang was a respected and kindly old lady and had been a long time member of the U.B. church.
Polly S. Covey was born at Panama, Chautauqua county, N.Y., Dec. 14, 1842. She came to Iowa when thirteen years old, and has lived in the state ever since. She was married to M.O. Lang Dec. 7, 1865. Mr. Lang died about six years ago. Five children were born to them, of whom there are three surviving -- Mrs. Florence Campbell of Bison, S.D.,Mrs. John Schroyer of West Union, and S.E. Lang of Lansing, Iowa. She has been a resident of West Union since 1855, except during a twelve years' residence at Lima.
The children and grandchildren of Mrs. Lang join in expressing their thanks to neighbors and friends for kinds acts during her last illness and at the time of their bereavement by her death.
