Stahr, age 68, of Hawkeye, Iowa who died on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Interment was at the Hawkeye Cemetery in Hawkeye,Iowa.
Tommy Neal Stahr was a Leap Year baby, born on February 29, 1944 to Lawrence "Pete" and Hope (Brooks) Stahr at the family's home in West Union, Iowa. He graduated from North High School in 1962. On February 7, 1968 Tom was united in marriage with Janet Stee in Denver, Colorado. The couple made their home in Hawkeye. For 43 years Tom worked at the Fayette County Engineer's Office. In his spare time Tom loved to play the guitar. He played in several bands, but most notably he played for many years with THE RUBBER BAND, which was inducted into the Iowa Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
Tom also enjoyed camping and bowling. He collected coins, eagle statues, and photography. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Tom will be remembered for his generosity and his musical talent.
Tom Stahr is survived by his wife Janet of Hawkeye; two sons Brian Coonradt and Brett Stahr, both of Hawkeye; a daughter Becky (John) Conner of Oelwein, Iowa; four grandchildren Cody Connor, Caleb Conner, Cassidy Connor, and Chance Conner; five brothers Doug (Mary) Stahr of Sherrill, Iowa, Allen "Scott" (Carol) Stahr of West Union, Rodney (Arnelia) Stahr of Rockford, Illinois, Steve (Pam) Stahr of Marquette, Iowa, and Mark (Jacque) Stahr of Hawkeye; two sisters Judy (Allen) Schnuelle of Castalia, Iowa, and Laurie (Ben) Cutsforth of Waucoma, Iowa; two aunts, Faith Vargeson of McChesney, Illinois and Zoe (Dean) Bark of Waterloo, Iowa; an uncle Dave (Bettie) Hedrick of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry Stahr.
