MERLE BROWN.
Longtime West Union businessman Merle Brown, 65, died Thursday evening in LaCrosse, WI. at Lutheran Hospital. He had been owner of Brown's Department Store since 1952.

Merle Brown was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, and the United Methodist Church. He was past chairman of the Fayette County Heart Association. In 1970 he was named West Union's "Man of the Year."

Services were held Monday at United Methodist Church. Burial was at West Union Cemetery.
