OBITUARY OF CLAUDE EUGENE GRESS

Claude Eugene Gress, youngest child of Elizabeth Jane Learn Gress and Adam Gress, was born in Fayette County, Iowa, June 27, 1881, and died at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, March 29, 1964, at the age of 82 years.

He was married to Tena Matilda Benson in June, 1904. To this union were born six sons and three daughters, Parker and Charles of Cedar Falls, Lyle of Bettendorf, Kenneth of Cedar Rapids, Harold of Riverside, Calf. and Gaylord who died in 1923 at the age of 13 years, Eunice (Mrs. Francis Shay) of Central City, Phyllis (Mrs. John Stankovic) Clermont, and Florence who died in infancy.

Surviving are five sons, two daughters, 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

His wife, parents, a son and daughter, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m, at the West Clermont Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Meyer of West Union, clergyman. Burial was at God's Acres at Clermont.

Pallbearers were Donald Gress, Lloyd Gress, Jerry Gress, Clifford Gress, Raymond, Amdahl and William Huck.
