OBITUARIES
ANDERSON SERVICE HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for Ivan Anderson, 87, were held Monday, Jan. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in Redeemer Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Wigtil officiated at the service with interment in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ivan died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Home, West Union, after a long illness.

Ivan Clarion Anderson, son of Andrew and Emma (Iverson) Anderson, was born Nov. 26, 1910 near Clermont. He was baptized in the East Clermont Lutheran Church on Feb. 8, 1911, and confirmed in 1925 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

Ivan received his education at the Woodland Country School north of Clermont After that he worked on area farms and briefly in North Dakota.

Ivan married Inga Olson Sept. 13, 1933. To this union one daughter was born. The Andersons farmed in the Clermont, Elgin and West Union areas. After retiring to West Union in 1975, Ivan worked several years as a groundskeeper at the West Union Country Club.

He was chosen "Outstanding Conservation Farmer" in 1970. He served as a member of the Elgin Cooperative board of directors; had been a member of West Clermont Lutheran Church, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Ivan served on the church council at St. Olaf.

In November 1997 Ivan and his wife Inga, became residents of the West Union Good Samaritan Center.

Preceding him m death were his parents and two brothers, Allen and Milo.

Ivan is survived by his wife Inga; a daughter, Mavis Lehman, Elgin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
