Source: Cresco Plain Dealer October 16, 1914, P2, C2Celestine E. Miller died at his home Saturday, Sept. 26, 1914 after a long illness of eight years suffering of diabetes. He was the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller. He was born in Cambria county, Penn , in 1856. With his father and family he moved to Howard county in 1870. He spent seventeen years there, then moved to West Union where he lived at the time of his death. He was 56 years and 10 days old. In 1889 he was united in marriage with Margaret Foley, of West Union, Iowa. To this union four children were born: John L., Elizabeth V., Alfred and Frances who preceded him in death.
Celestine was a patient sufferer and bore his trouble bravely. He never recovered from the great loss he sustained about three years ago when his only sister was laid to rest. He spent much of his time in doctoring in different places. He was a loving husband, father and brother, and was beloved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, three children, three brothers, Frank of Cresco, la., Henry, of West Union and M. T. of Bingham, Utah. He was preceded in death by father, mother, three brothers and a sister.
After a requiem high mass and a very touching address by Rev. Father Fitzgerald, he was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at West Union, la.
