MAYNARD.

Nothing more unexpected has occurred for some time than the death, last evening, of Mrs. Hanes. It is impossible for us to realize that she is indeed dead, that the hands that have ministered so often to those in distress are still in death, that the devoted: wife and mother and loving friend will be with us never again. We never have seen a grief she could help that she did not hasten to relieve it; and if her beautiful dream be true that in the heaven of God crowns of rejoicing are jeweled for the good we have done, what a beautiful radiance will shine from her brow for the spirits she has comforted and the pain she has relieved. She had learned that great rule, that so many of us never know, the blessedness of living to make others happy. She died a Christian, trusting in Jesus to the last. She has for years been an active member of the M. E. church. The funeral service will be conducted at the house tomorrow afternoon by the Rathbone Sisters, of which society she was a member. The bereaved husband and two sons have our sincere sympathy and that of the entire community in their bereavement. June 5.
