RANDALIA.

Through the kindness of Rev. Gillet, of West Union, we are able to give the following sketch of W.A. Bratt's life.

William Asher Bratt was born March 2, 1844,in Hoosic, Rensselaer Co., N.Y. He died at his home, southwest of Randalia, after a short illness, Jan. 22, 1900.

He moved with his parents to Wisconsin; enlisted in the Union army in the fall of 1861 in Co. H, 14th Wis. Inf., and took part in the battle of Shiloh, second battle of Corinth, siege of Vicksburg, and several other engagements, and was mustered out at Mobile, Alabama., Oct 9, 1865. He left Wisconsin for Fayette county about 1867. He was married to Electa J. Proctor April 12, 1868. To them were born four children, each surviving their parents. Two sisters and other relatives mourn his loss. His wife died in 1877 (sic 1897). He was a member of the G.A.R. and M.W.A., a devoted father, a kind neighbor and a friend to all. The funeral services were held in the G.A.R. hall at Randalia, Jan. 24, at 1 P.M. conducted by Rev. E.H. Gillett, pastor of the Baptist church at West Union. A large concourse of people were present to add their tribute of respect to a departed comrade, neighbor and friend.
