Page SevenThe funeral of the late Jacob Hasbrook was held from the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Horace Foote and was very largely attended by relatives and old neighbors who had learned to have a warm place in their hearts for Mr. Hasbrook during the many years of their acquaintance with him.
Jacob Hasbrook was born in Beloit, Wis., July 28th, 1846 and came to his death by falling through an elevator shaft in Hotel Mealey, in Oelwein, on Wednesday morning, April 17, 1918. He came to Iowa in his early manhood and engaged in farming in the southern part of Fayette Co. He was married to Miss Ellen Kint, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kint in 1884. Seven children were born to this union three of whom died in early childhood. His son William died a few years since and a daughter, Mrs. E.H. Latham but a few months ago. There are now left but two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Wells of Hazelton and Mrs. Mertie Burns of Minneapolis, Minn. Besides these there are many grand children and five great-grandchildren left to mourn the loss of one who always had their interest at heart.
