SERVICES HELD FOR DALE CHASEFuneral services for Dale Chase, 80, Oelwein, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Rev. Dale Rausch officiating. Interment was in West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dale died Wednesday, March 11, 1998 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center of a heart attack.
Dale Arnold Chase, son of James and Georgia (Daniels) Chase, was born April 27, 1917 at West Union. He was baptized Jan. 24, 1949 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Bettendorf, and confirmed March 15, 1949. He attended West Union School.
Dale was united in marriage to Ernistine Home on April 3, 1939 at Fayette. They are the parents of twin daughters.
Dale worked as a welder at Pudget Sound Navy Yards in Bremerton, Wash. during WWII and then at a plant in Bettendorf; played and sang on KOEL radio in Oelwein and WOC-TV in Davenport and was known as the Iowa Troubadour; taught guitar and music lessons in northeast Iowa; owned and operated Chase's IGA in Fayette; and operated a music store in West Union.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Lay Carmalities.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
Dale is survived by his wife, Ernistine; two daughters, Cheryl Walker, Oelwein, and Carol Lau, Fayette; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
