Beverly Ann Harnisch, 45, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye, with the Rev. Troy Pfilbsen officiating.
Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.Casket bearers were Jim and Jim, Jr. Hubka, Mark Meyer, Cory Rochford, Tim Harnisch and Chad Shurtleff.
Beverly (Shurtleff) Harnisch was born Oct. 17, 1954, at West Union, the daughter of Lyle and Arlene (Gager) Shurtleff. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith as an infant. She was raised in Alpha and graduated from North Fayette High School in West Union in 1972. She worked at Beatrice Cheese in Fredericksburg for the next 5 years.
In 1978, Beverly began working at Park View Nursing Home in Cedar Falls and attended Hawkeye Technical Institute in Waterloo.
She earned an LPN (licensed practical nurse) degree in 1984. Beverly had been employed at the New Hampton Care Center, where she had worked since 1987.
She was united in marriage with Phil Harnisch April 5, 1996. Beverly enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and biking.
Survivors include her husband, Phil; her mother, Arlene Shurtleff of Alpha; her mother- and father-in-law, Katie and Ernie Harnisch; 2 step-children: Troy of Livermore, Calif. and Tracy of Fredericksburg; 4 step-grandchildren: Tim, Tiffany, Karli and Cassie; 4 brothers: Robert (Cindy) Shurtleff of Alpha, Dennis (Diane) Shurtleff of Fredericksburg, Gary Shurtleff of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Rick (Lois) Shurtleff of Fayette; 2 sisters: Phyllis (Jim) Rochford of Douglas, Kan., and Marilyn (John) Bergeson of Waucoma; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lyle Shurtleff, who died Oct. 4, 1995; one brother, Randy Shurtleff, who died Nov. 24, 1996; paternal grandparents Roy and Oral Shurtleff; and maternal grandparents Alva and Alta Gager.
