Joy Maxine Pedersen, 86 years old, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on August 11, 1927, in Zap, North Dakota, the daughter of John Beuford and Mildred (Lerum) Johnson. She attended school in Chicago, Illinois. She married Carl Francis Pedersen in Chicago and they were later divorced. Mrs. Pedersen was a postal worker for twenty-two and a half years before retiring in 1987. She was a former member of the Eagles in Oelwein.

Mrs. Pedersen is survived by 1 son, Edward (Susan) Pedersen of White Water, Wisconsin, and 2 grandchildren, Deidre (Becca) Lee and Ryan E. Pedersen, both of Oelwein, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m., Monday, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Friends may call for visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29th, at the funeral home.
