Clair Anderson

Funeral services for Clair Anderson, 78, were held Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union with Rev. Dennis VeenKant officiating. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral h
Home, West Union had charge of arrangements.

I. Clair Anderson, son of Andrew and Ethel (Stanton) Anderson, was born Aug. 1, 1906 at Elkader. He died Jan. 1.

He graduated from the West Union High School in 1925 and taught at the Auburn School for one year. He had a farm job for a short time and then ran the Standard Oil Station, West Union for 9 years.

He was married to Evelyn Paulson Dec. 10, 1933. They began farming 5 miles northeast of West Union in 1939. He started working on the railroad in 1956 and retired from that after 16 years. They moved to West Union in 1960 where he was a member of Temple Hill Wesleyan Church and Natural Foods.

Preceding him in death were two grandchildren, Brian and Jay Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, his sons, Vernon, Cedar Falls, Elvin and Burton, Castalia, Harlan, West Union, Kerwin, Calmar and Steven, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Carolyn) Havenstrite and Mrs. Les (Irene) Hitch, West Union, Mrs. Don (Colleen) Crawford, Fayette; 22 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Millard, Sumner and Ted, Clermont, one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Ana) Anderson, West Union

Pallbearers were Bruce Anderson, David Anderson, Keith Anderson, Jeff Havenstrite, Tim Havenstrite and Kenny Roe___. [clipping tore here and the rest of Kenny's name is gone.]
