Fayette County Leader, Thur., 18 Sept. 1930.

Thomas Hardy died Friday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, from injuries received in an accident at his farm. He was working with a tractor and driving it with a binder attached, and fell from the tractor, which passed over him, breaking his neck. He lived several days. He was about 78 years of age, and was one of the pioneers of Oelwein and Fayette county. When Oelwein celebrated its 50th anniversary seven years ago, he was the only one to be found who could drive a yolk of oxen.
