Fayette County Leader, Thursday, 8 January 1925.

Elias C. Fussell was born at Lima, Iowa, Aug. 14, 1859, and died at Redlands, Calif., Dec. 18, 1924.

Since 16 years of age he resided at Fayette, where he finished High School and later attended College. He was united in marriage Nov. 14, 1883, to Stella B. Gregory of Fayette, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Elizabeth U., of Redlands, Calif., and Harold G. of Independence, Iowa.

Besides his wife who survives him he leaves two brothers to mourn his loss: O. G. Fussell of Redlands, Calif., and P. B. Fussell of Cucamonga, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Wiley of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. L. L. Stansbury of Portland, Oregon.

Mr. and Mrs. Fussell were spending the winter in California and up to the time of his death he was in unusually good health. His death occurred very suddenly Thursday morning at 7 o'clock of acute cardiac diletation.

A private funeral was held from the F. A. Cortner funeral parlors Saturday at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. H. C. Ide pastor of the First Congregational church officiating. Two selections, "O Love Thou Wilt Not Let Me Go", and "There Is No Night", were beautifully rendered by Mrs. Roselyn Pugh, accompanied by Mrs. C. M. Brown. Interment was made in Hillside Cemetery at Redlands, the pall bearers being relatives of the family. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.

Relatives from out of town attending were: P. B. Fussell and wife, Cucamonga, Calif., Homer Fussell and wife, Riverside, Calif.; Fred Hendrickson and wife, Los Angeles, Calif.

" I can not say, I will not say
That he is dead.
He is just away -
With a cheery smile and the wave

of a hand
He has wandered into an unknown

land."
