Elgin Echo, Thur., 5 March 1903. (Condensed).
John H. Jacquette was born in Philadelphia, Penn., Dec. 16, 1819, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Doan, Feb. 26 1903, and at the time of his death was 83 years, 2 months and 10 days old. In March of 1844 he was married to Miss Ellen Twining who died in 1856. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom have preceded the father across the river of death; the three surviving are Miles Jacquette and Mrs. J. M. Doan, of this city, and Mrs. Mary Wagner, of Correctionville.
For the past 22 years Mr. Jacquette has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Doan, the most of the time being spent in S. Dakota. About two years ago the family removed to this city.
Contraction of the fatal disease does not date back far. Sometime this past winter he developed a severe cold which settled into his lungs and gradually sapped away the vitality until acute pneumonia took hold of the then frail constitution and quickly ended life.
Funeral services were held in the _________ Baptist church Monday afternoon and interment was made in Elgin cemetery.
